More adventures in Gelish land

Hi everyone,

It’s been some time since we met here. Working 2 jobs, a blog, 2 dogs and a partner are really taking a lot of time, no , I am only joking but yes, I have been busy. As some of you already know I have a little beauty salon ( thelittlebeautybox.wordpress.com) which is taking up quite some time but I really love doing it. I have moved from one room to another bigger room because I just need/want some more space.

I wanted to share some bits and bobs with you about Gelish today. I already mentioned a colour in a former beauty blog called Taupe Tulips and I mentioned there I found it really hard to soak off. Well I have to eat my words because yesterday I soaked my gel nails off and it was a doddle ! This colour is very popular with my clients, I buy it in Boots ( Sensationail) 7ml for £ 15.00. When I did my friends nails with this colour and some Waterfield ( gelish) on her ring finger, they looked stunning ! So much so, that even some significant people from Nail Harmony UK, liked my picture, wow, almost fell off my chair 🙂

Taupe Tulips & Waterfield

This time they were veryyyy shiny not like before when they seemed duller  maybe because they were topped with Izzy Wizzy Let’s get Busy? Also my BF has the most fab hands & nails to work on, very satisfying to say the least. So this combo has worked well in my Little Beauty Box because after weeks of crazy colours it’s nice to tone down and go Chic.

Another thing that caught my attention was The Louboutin Manicure on the internet.      Now I am a fan of Christian Louboutins shoes and am very protective of my “Loubies” as I fondly call them. I noticed on the Nail Harmony website a piccie of such a manicure :

And this one, also on Facebook :

Which I thought were very nice indeed, so I decided to have a go at it. At the time I had gold glitter with Gelish on my nails and they were not ready for soaking of yet. Plus I didn’t have a black Gelish as I have heard it is really difficult to apply? So I got my good ol’ nail polish out in red and black. I painted black over my Gelish which was easy enough, but then the red bit was soooo fiddly, pheww, major clean up work required ! I tried different sizes of brushes to see what would work best but still thought it was a messy thing.  Also I am not used to normal nail polish any more, I kept damaging my nails, arghhhh ! Nightmare, honestly, so I will try this again at a later stage with Gelish and hope it will move along nicer and cleaner. Also if you are trying this at home, don’t forget to cap the free edge in black otherwise you will have mixture of red & black there and it looks mighty untidy…

Here is my result, could have spend a bit more time on it but hey ho, I was just curious      ( read : impatient )

ta daaaa 😀

Think it is very nice and subtle, not in your face at all, if your nails are not mega long.

My latest try-out was the new colour from the Sizzling Summer Nights collection in Sunrise and the City. Don’t know where there are any sizzling summer nights to be had in this country but if you know such a lovely place, please take me there as I am in danger of a bout of  hypothermia if this rubbish summer continues.

This colour changes depending on the light it receives, it can look pink gold, coppery or  orange and is defo very glittery. I thought it was very transparent the first coat and uneven in application. So 3 coats were needed to get some coverage, the result below;

Sunrise and the City

Very orangey looking here probably because of the orange cushion.Here it more pinky reddish gold, anyway I am sure you get what I mean (aka : IYKWIM )

Well that was it for today folks, hope you enjoyed some of it and see you on the next one hopefully ❤
